My Experiences From Indian History and Distinguished Indian Freed Fighter - Veer Savarkar
The Renaissance Of Rebellion
“ In attaining our ideals and intrinsic values of independence, the means must and should be as pure as the ends ” . This quote was rightly coined by one of our country greatest leaders and First President of this great nation Dr. Rajendra Prasad . Freedom is of a individualistic , personalised and incomprehensible nature to say the least , yet our forefathers not only did not sway from its steadfast aphorisms but also propagated it in a democratic manner .
The year 1857 is deeply etched into the very soul of Indian history, marking a watershed moment as the First War of Independence. Moreover , it was the first rebellious act against the oppressors and their inhumane tactics . This uprising symbolised the development of heart , mind and character among the oppressed . This was a sign , a cataclysmic sign of further change and it had sown the seed of dissent and defiance in the very strands of our future freedom fighters and leaders . This uprising, characterized by its unprecedented scale of unity among varying castes , creed and religion which deeply entrenched resistance against colonial dominance, seeded the ideological framework for India's protracted struggle for freedom. Emerging from this shambles of rebellion, dignified figures like Vinayak Damodar Savarkar or more famously known as Veer Savarkar were born, whose life and legacy continue to inspire generations alike and exist as symbolic heroes for the mass of India . Veer Savarkar has greatly motivated me during my own personal struggles as well as in moments of distress . I have viewed him as an idealistic freedom fighter , political leader and innovator and writer of progressive and pioneering pieces . His intellect and ethos cannot merely be comprehended in words . He is imbibing mother India’s current generation with qualities of education, leadership , creativity , resilience and will power . His memoirs and life story is filled with interactions with extraordinary individuals, unprecedented complexities of ideas and notions apart from his controversial writings pertaining to Hindutva and India’s freedom struggle as well as his pivotal contributions towards the party we all recall as Hindu Mahasabha as the Partys President and an influential activist . His early life was filled with academic rigour which I relate to most since Education is the sole determinant of our nation’s progress and development and there was no greater advocate of talent , education and determination than Veer Savarkar . He then studied law in Great Britain , right there at the center of imperialism, slowly and steadily defeating the enemy from within . He actively participated and rallied all the other Indian Youth in the Indian House , 65 Cromwell Avenue in High gate . His persistence to attain education , fight India’s freedom struggle and write his books really drew me towards his personality. His greatest works included especially the book Indian War Of Independence which he completed in 1909 . This book talked about the epoch of change and competence in the souls and minds of Indians . He greatly praised the Mutiny of 1857 as an organised political , socio-cultural singularity organised and executed by Indian Soldiers , Princes and the common populace rather than the propaganda of the British which displayed this mutiny as chaotic and unorganised. The 1857 rebellion had woken up slumbering passion in us Indians and has lit the spark for Purna Swaraj . The greatest minds and freedom fighters Of India similarly aligned themselves with the views of Veer Savarkar pertaining to the rebellion . He acted as the voice and pen rather than the sword of the freedom struggle and as it is a philosophical and statistically proven fact that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword . Veer Savarkars contribution to print media and Indian literature inspired current political leaders especially in the Southern Part of India including but not limited to MP’s such as Shashi Tharoor . His unwavering will and might in the face of imprisonment , possible execution , assassination attempts , bold escapes , discrediting and disinformation campaigns and his illegitimate and wrongful arrests with relation to the Nathuram Godse legal case .His willingness to comprise and negate all and every kind of fear for his life and his future turned him into one of the most fearsome and ferocious freedom fighters that ever walked on this planet . His utmost loyalty to the cause and ideology more than tainted loyalty to individuals and parties was a striking ethical feature often lacking in many politicians. His ability to speak his mind and his habit of non-conformity to societal ideals and restrictions greatly allowed him to break from the shackles of namesake diplomacy to strive and actively bring change in society rather than making pyrrhic promises . Due to his actions and quick on his feet descisions as well as his interactions with figures existing on the outskirts of society , VD Savarkar still remains to this day an extremely controversial figure arising great praise and skepticism alike from the Indian Public and media . This man is often unnoticed when it comes to the pedestals reserved for freedom fighters since he was unique , as an proud Indian citizen , I would always treat him as equal to the likes of Mahatma Gandhi Ji and Subash Chandra Bose , great visionaries of Colonial Indian Society. Veer Savarkar out rightly created the ideology of Hindutva which is the current political , social , economic and cultural ideology of this great nation when it comes to a multitude of spheres of modern day Indian society . Hindutva has been the guiding light of this nation during turbulence and time of innate crisis and alarming situations and hindutva has always shown the most morally , politically correct , economically sound and culturally accepted path for any decision or program undertaken by the Indian Government under the name of the Indian people . His legacy and his writings define him and embed him in our history books and minds till times immemorial as long as the soul of our nation survives and thrives .
In a nutshell, it is the very essence and individual nature and personality of VD Savarkar which continues to inspire me till date and throughout my life . His lessons and teachings will never be forgotten for they live in our hearts , minds and souls .
